Acknowledgement of Support
Berndt Museum Research Foundation Grant (2024–2025)
The Anthropological Society of Western Australia Inc. (ASWA) gratefully acknowledges the generous support of the Professor Ronald M. and Dr Catherine H. Berndt Research Foundation, which provided a grant of $5,000 for the 2024–2025 period.
This funding increased ASWA's capacity to deliver a series of well-attended member events that aligned with the promotion and advancement of anthropology in Western Australia. These included:
The ASWA Annual Dinner and Awards Night (December 2025), celebrating excellence in anthropology and strengthening professional networks across the discipline;
The seminar “Power in the Process: Leveraging Environmental Legislation and Relationships to Protect People and Country” (February 2026), supporting critical discussion on heritage protection, regulatory frameworks, and Aboriginal authority;
The establishment of a new ASWA website and membership platform, improving communication, engagement, and coordination across the Society’s growing membership.
The activities also benefited from significant in-kind volunteer contributions from ASWA's Committee members and Friends of ASWA, strengthening the Society’s long-term sustainability.
Naomi Howells, ASWA's Secretary, said:
"We are delivering a varied program of events aimed at strengthening professional engagement. The member management system has an integrated website and improves our administration, increasing our member engagement and organisational capacity".
We sincerely thank the Berndt Research Foundation for its continued support of anthropology in Western Australia.
